Demand Response in Smart Buildings

چکیده
The demand-side management scheme, one of the smart grid’s distribution side features, is well accepted due to its role in controlling energy consumption residential buildings by ensuring sustainability, leading concept buildings. consumers’ appropriate response without compromising comfort, referred as demand response, helps decrease their electricity bill. Further, flexibility and controllability power patterns end user has gained tremendous research interest grid domain. Smart appliances’ pattern alternation, battery back-up during peak load period, partial fulfilment through renewable generations are instrumental reducing Besides, short-term forecasting plays a vital system scheduling management. This chapter attempts summarize strategies it discusses importance adapting point probabilistic methods yield efficient building environment.

Demand Side Management in Smart Buildings Using KNX/EIB
This paper aims to present the development, design and analysis of a control scheme named Thermal Model Predictive Control for Demand Side Management Cooling Strategies. The control is implemented on a building in Athens whose thermal model is derived using the Finite Difference Calculation Method. The development and testing of the thermal model is implemented on-line while the predictive cont...
متن کاملIntegrated Scheduling of Electric Vehicles and Demand Response Programs in a Smart Microgrid
Microgrid (MG) is one of the important blocks in the future smart distribution systems. The scheduling pattern of MGs affects distribution system operation. Also, the optimal scheduling of MGs will be result in reliable and economical operation of distribution system. In this paper, an operational planning model of a MG which considers multiple demand response (DR) programs is proposed. In the ...

متن کاملFlexibility Analysis for Smart Grid Demand Response
Flexibility is a key enabler for the smart grid, required to facilitate Demand Side Management (DSM) programs, managing electrical consumption to reduce peaks, balance renewable generation and provide ancillary services to the grid. Flexibility analysis is required to identify and quantify the available electrical load of a site or building which can be shed or increased in response to a DSM si...
متن کاملDemand Response and Energy Storage for Zero Energy Residential Buildings
The EU climate and energy targets and the decreasing costs have been leading to a growing utilization of solar photovoltaic generation in residential buildings. However, even in buildings with the same level of yearly generation and consumption the mismatch between the demand and the photovoltaic generation profiles leads to high power flows between the household and the grid, which is an ineff...
